Founded by queer, Black, and Shi’a Muslims, we assume our humanity and uplift those who have been most marginalized within, and outside of, the Muslim Ummah, including Black Muslims, LGBTQIA+ Muslims, converts, reverts, disabled Muslims, Shi’a Muslims, and more. Through honoring diverse artistic practices, we curate an experience that is as infinite as those who submit to, and interact with, this publication.
We encourage individuals who engage with Reconstructed to see a multiplicity of realities within Islam - each as beautiful, complex, and honest as the others. In doing so, we invite you to both de- and re- construct your ideas of what it means to carry closeness to Islam.
